Soft Earth reflects on the complex relationship between nature and industry through memories of summer in the open pastures and working in the hayfield. The conflict of the natural order, technology, business, and the role of man are addressed in juxtaposing colors, marks, and motifs. Repetitive imagery represents the comforting monotony in the day-to-day uncertainty of raising livestock.
